Sauna Use Terms & Conditions (Guest Safety Policy)

These terms apply to all guests using the sauna located at Still Southwold. By booking the sauna, guests confirm that they have read, understood and agreed to comply with these terms.

1. Use at Own Risk

Use of the sauna is entirely at the guest’s own risk. The property owner, manager, and representatives accept no liability for injury, illness, allergic reactions, burns, fainting, or any other medical condition that may arise from use of the sauna.

Guests accept full responsibility for determining whether they are medically fit to use the sauna.

2. Medical Conditions & Health Risks

Sauna use may pose health risks. Guests must not use the sauna if they:

  • Are pregnant
  • Have heart disease or cardiovascular conditions
  • Have high or low blood pressure
  • Have respiratory conditions
  • Are prone to fainting or heat sensitivity
  • Have recently consumed alcohol or drugs
  • Are taking medication that may impair heat tolerance

If guests have any health concerns, they must seek medical advice before using the sauna.

3. Alcohol, Drugs & Intoxication

Use of the sauna while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or intoxicating substances is strictly prohibited due to the increased risk of dehydration, unconsciousness, and injury.

4. Age Restrictions

  • Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to use the sauna.
  • Guests aged 12–17 may only use the sauna under direct adult supervision.
  • Adults are fully responsible for the safety and behaviour of any minors.

5. Recommended Use

To reduce the risk of heat exhaustion or dehydration:

  • Limit sessions to 10–15 minutes
  • Drink water before and after use
  • Take cooling breaks between sessions
  • Exit immediately if dizziness, nausea, or discomfort occurs

6. Hygiene Requirements

To maintain hygiene and safety:

  • Guests must shower before entering the sauna
  • A clean towel must be used on the benches at all times
  • No oils, lotions, cosmetics, or body products should be applied before use

7. Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited inside the sauna:

  • Glass containers
  • Food or drink
  • Electrical devices
  • Flammable materials
  • Smoking or vaping

8. Safe Operation

Guests must not:

  • Tamper with sauna controls
  • Adjust temperature beyond normal settings
  • Pour liquids other than water from bucket provided on the heater 
  • Cover or obstruct the heater

9. Damage and Cleaning

Guests are responsible for any damage caused through misuse or negligence.
The owner reserves the right to charge the lead guest for repair, replacement, or excessive cleaning costs.

10. Assumption of Responsibility

The lead booking guest accepts responsibility for ensuring that all members of their group comply with these rules.

11. Right to Withdraw Access

The property owner reserves the right to disable or restrict sauna access if misuse, unsafe behaviour, or rule violations occur.
