For more than a century our family has cared for this remarkable stretch of the Suffolk coast.
During that time the sea has claimed fields, cliffs and buildings, reshaping the landscape generation after generation. Today around two-thirds of the original estate has been lost.
Rather than seeing coastal erosion as something to resist at all costs, we have chosen to adapt. Our buildings can move. Our business can evolve. Our future is designed to change with the coastline rather than against it.

Why we Published this Booklet
Climate change is forcing many coastal communities to rethink how they live, work and invest.
We wanted to share our experience—not because we have all the answers, but because practical examples of successful adaptation remain surprisingly rare.
This booklet tells the story of our journey, the lessons we’ve learned, and why we believe adapting to change can create places that are every bit as beautiful, successful and resilient as those they replace.
