About the Listening Station
Perched on the cliff top at Easton Bavents, The Listening Station offers a unique opportunity to experience one of Britain’s most remarkable stretches of coastline. Built on the site of a former Royal Navy Y-listening station, where Wrens once listened for German S-boats during the Second World War, it combines striking contemporary architecture with a fascinating sense of place.
Designed to immerse guests in the landscape, floor-to-ceiling glazing frames uninterrupted sea views while natural cedar shingles allow the building to blend quietly into its coastal surroundings. From spectacular sunrises over the North Sea to moonlight reflecting on the water, the ever-changing landscape becomes part of your stay.
Designed for relaxed coastal living
Sleeping up to four guests in two comfortable en-suite bedrooms, The Listening Station has been thoughtfully designed for relaxed coastal living. The spacious open-plan living area and fully equipped kitchen provide everything you need for a comfortable stay, while the patio door opens onto a private deck where mornings begin with coffee overlooking the sea and evenings end watching the changing skies.
This is a place to slow down. Spend your days walking the beach, exploring nearby Southwold, swimming in the sea or simply watching skylarks drift overhead. Then return to the comfort of your retreat, where peace, privacy and nature are never more than a glance through the window.
The Listening Station is more than somewhere to stay; it is an opportunity to experience a landscape shaped by the sea, where contemporary design, history and nature come together to create an unforgettable coastal escape.
Steven, Cherry & Mable
“Absolutely loved this place: peaceful, cleverly thought out, beautifully decorated and in a perfect location.
Morning sunrises, moon lit sea and the deserted beach loved by us and Mabel means we have to return in the spring!”
The O’Briens
“This is such a special place!
Highlights for us were watching a barn owl circling and hovering over the field at dusk for several minutes, and this morning no fewer than 4 sky larks ascending, singing, in to the almost cloudless sky.”
The Embleton-Smiths
“Location, location, Location. Terrific property in easy walking distance of Southwold and lovely long sandy beach we had never discovered on (many) previous visits. Still felt brand new and generous provisions set a nice tone. Very pleased with our stay”
The Clemes
“Fabulous stay. Great accommodation in a lovely spot. Quality fixtures and fittings throughout which make such a difference. Brilliant shower and heavenly beds. Lovely walk into Southwold and great to be able to drive down the track to the pier if weather inclement”
