Work is almost complete on converting the old cart-lodge on Easton Lane to a central facility for our coastal retreat.<\/p>\n

We plan to offer air conditioned treatment rooms, a reception and just somewhere to make our base or drop in for a coffee<\/p>\n

There’s a little bit more work to do to save this near-derelict building, but it will be worth the effort!<\/p>\n

Dune hut<\/em><\/h2>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

The image is a dune hut at Provincetown, Cape Cod. These huts have long been popular with artist and writers and creative people such as Tenessee Williams, Jack Kerouac and Jackson Pollack who have enjoyed the solitude, the\n ocean and the creativity it inspires<\/p>\n

Marsden Hartley wrote in his autobiography \u201cWhat a summer – in among those amazing dunes\u2026 Whoever will forget those dunes \u2013 once having seen them \u2013 and the great rumbling, dramatic \u201coutside\u201d as it was called \u2013 the ocean itself, the\n long stretch of lovely sands, and nothing else.\u201d<\/p>\n

Easton Bavents may not be Cape Cod but we felt that our own ‘dune hut’ would be a great addition to Still Southwold. So – coming soon we will have a small ‘dune hut’ for our guests to rent on our beach. We cannot promise\n to turn you a famous writer or artist but this will be a stunning place to sit and listen to the waves, brew a cup of tea, relax and read a book whilst watching kids play and enjoy a glass of something cooling (or warming) as the\n sun sets, possibly even after a bracing evening dip!<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

The design of these 1 bedroom lets is based upon a Suffolk coastal legend. Most famous of all is the sea monster landed by fishermen in 1749 who discovered the beast in their nets as they trawled the coastline<\/p>\n

Their coastal location overlooking the vastness of the North Sea takes inspiration and reflects upon this Suffolk legend<\/p>\n
